Ruben primarily serves industrial sector clients on strategic, organizational, and operational issues. He has held a number of McKinsey leadership roles, and currently leads its Digital and Analytics Industrial Practice in Europe.

Background

Ruben has led McKinsey’s Global Basic Materials Practice, its Merger Management Practice, and its Belgian and Luxembourg offices. His recent client work includes:

  • Strategic portfolio screening for major basic material, chemical, and energy players including external and internal opportunity assessments.
  • Cross-border integration of several major chemical companies, focusing on business continuity and capture of synergies.
  • Strategic alliance negotiations, synergy evaluation, and post-merger integration for multiple basic materials and chemical players (2-way and 3-way).
  • Multi-year operational improvement programs (operational, commercial and supply chain).
  • Integration of industrial products manufacturers, including simplifying of their organizational structure, increasing customer orientation, and creating a unique global supply chain.
  • Redesign of headquarters, corporate, and shared services functions
  • Development of a new organizational structure for a subsidiary of a cement producer.
Before joining McKinsey, Ruben was an engineer with Exxon. He holds master’s degrees in engineering and economics from the Catholic University of Louvain.
