Juan Antonio helps risk management executives at leading financial institutions and corporations upgrade their risk management practices and respond to regulatory and supervisory requirements. He leads McKinsey’s Risk Practice in Iberia, and serves on the Risk Dynamics Executive Committee.


For more than 15 years, Juan Antonio has served clients on a diversity of risk and strategy related themes. Most recently, he has supported programs to improve compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards, including:

  • Increasing granularity and coverage of the internal ratings-based approach to capital requirements
  • Complying with Basel Committee Standard 239 on risk data aggregation and reporting
  • Developing and enhancing of International Financial Reporting Standard 9 models
  • Enhancing the risk appetite framework of several banks
  • Restructuring corporate credit portfolios
Prior to McKinsey, he worked at Renault headquarters in operations. He holds a double diploma in industrial engineering from Polytechnic University at Madrid and Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Techniques Avancées at Paris. He also has an MBA from the London Business School.
