Himanshu advises financial institutions on strategy, risk management, operations, and organizational excellence.


In 12 years at McKinsey, Himanshu has worked across North and South America, India, and the Asia-Pacific region, helping clients define and execute their growth strategies, assess and improve their risk management practices, and set up and undertake fundamental transformations of their business models. He leads McKinsey’s Risk & Resilience Practice in India, and its work in risk analytics in Asia.

Himanshu’s extensive risk management experience includes stress testing, portfolio and capital optimization, credit risk, collections, operational risk, and risk culture. He has worked across asset classes (e.g., mortgages, credit cards, auto finance, other consumer loans, wealth management, lending to small and medium enterprises, and corporate lending).

Examples of recent work he has led include:

  • Designing and implementing an organization-wide customer engagement transformation at a private sector bank in India
  • Transforming the corporate banking sales organization for one of India's largest public sector banks
  • An end-to-end business transformation for a leading private sector bank in India
  • A risk management transformation for one of India’s largest institutional lenders
Prior to McKinsey, Himanshu practiced law at Davis Polk & Wardwell in New York, where he specialized in mergers and acquisitions. He has a law degree, and a bachelor’s degree with scientific enquiry concentration in biochemicals and genetics, and liberal arts from Northwestern State University of Louisiana.
